I began coding as a teen-ager and have over 14 years professional experience. My career in software development has been diverse, ranging from interactive multimedia CD-ROMs, designing and creating Windows desktop software, developing network client/server software, architecting complex web applications and, of course, building websites.

I have worked both as a freelance programmer and full-time employee for many companies over the years. I can effectively collaborate with teams and be very resourceful when working on my own. I learn quickly and can get up-to-speed on existing projects fairly quickly and never intimidated to take on larger projects.

I began my development career in 1994 with a small company called Integrated Imaging. I was responsible for creating three-dimensional models of various semiconductor equipment and used computer animation to show how they operated. This was done primarily for sales presentations and demonstrating maintenance procedures. My employment lasted two years.

In 1996, I ventured into self-employment and created a small company named EMEDIA. I was responsible for all sales and customer relations, as well as most of the development for this three year period, which turned out to be invaluable experience for me. I organized and managed other freelance developers for production and managed project deadlines. On the development side, I designed and created many web sites, interactive presentations on CD-ROM and custom screensavers.

In 1999, I dissolved EMEDIA and went to work full-time for one of my clients, Tomar Electronics, Inc., who hired me as their full-time web developer. It is here where I began doing large scale development and was able to explore many avenues of software development.

In 2003, I left Tomar and was hired by the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Here I created graphics, animations and some web development support for applications. This position turned out to be least challenging for me and soon began looking for other work. My highlight accomplishment was the development of a custom video player, done in Macromedia Flash, which was implemented into the MBA program as the standard player for all streaming video playback.

In 2004, I decided to go back to Tomar Electronics. Tomar wanted to create an ecommerce web site which would enable customers and distributors to purchase products online. This project intrigued me and I was very excited to be back aboard to spearhead this. I began work on this in early 2005 and developed most of the backend database API for the products before leaving the company in November 2005. I left Tomar to pursue other interests with freelance and contract work.

In 2006, I worked for several companies as a freelance and contract developer. Nationwide Flooring Services hired me to build their web site and do some routine IT maintenance on their internal network. I also worked for a small company named Red Block Solutions helping them with some web programming in PHP for a search application for their client’s web site. I was also hired by FireDrum Internet Marketing doing web programming in PHP for one of their clients and helped with their internal java application which drives their permission-based email marketing. I ended 2006 working for Arizona State University doing AJAX development for the University technology Office (UTO) where I worked on a small team of developers creating interactive interfaces with AJAX technologies.

At the end of 2006, I accepted a position as a Software Engineer at Rhino Internet Solutions. Rhino was a great company to work for and I enjoyed being part of an extremely talented team of people – by far the most talented team I have ever worked with. My responsibilities were full-cycle software development, including writing technical specifications for projects, conceptualizing and creating data models, writing code to satisfy project/client requirements, mentor other developers, meeting and presenting to clients, and also helping manage project status. I was promoted to Sr. Software Engineer. I left Rhino in January 2008 to pursue other professional interests.

In 2008, I worked for several companies as a freelance programmer under my company name, The EM Group. Although I thoroughly enjoyed freelancing (and the freedom), I accepted a full-time position from one of my clients, Park&Co, an innovative communications firm in Phoenx, AZ. I was asked aboard as Project Manager and web developer for their creative department and I gladly accepted.

In early 2010, I left Park&Co to pursue other interests. I am currently working as a web developer at RIESTER in the Digital department.

I would love to do some mobile development this year. I tried getting this off the ground last year, but let my working situation get the best of me.
